2008 Shea Estate Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Our Price: $42.00 Sale Price: $37.80

The Sheas are the quiet, gentle, and oh-so respected giants of the Willamette Valley, who after years of selling their grapes to such legends as Ken Wright, Sine Qua Non, Tannahill, and Westrey, saved some for themselves. The result is a deliciously refined Pinot Noir worthy of sipping attentively, aging, or building a shrine around. Dark wild raspberry and blackberry fruit reminiscent of the pure strand only found in the hunter and gatherer days, mixed with lush rose petals and scents of black tea make this one deep and awe-worthy Pinot. Best decanted.

Ripe fruit with hints of cocoa and jams on the nose. On the palate, the wine is very intense but well proportioned. The tannins are smooth and give way to a slight touch of pepper with a prolonged finish.

2006 Allegrini Palazzo della Torre
Our Price: $22.50 Sale Price: $20.25

This sultry blend of Corvina & Rondinella demands to be sipped fireside - or at least next to an electric log. Flavors of chocolate dipped fig, raspberry, and cinnamon come from a partial ripasso-style treatment, where a third of the grapes are left to dry and develop warm aromatic characteristics reminiscent of baking spices and cocoa. Topped off with a burst of velvety tannins and sparkle of acidity, the Allegrini likes salty cheeses and craves French onion soup and meaty stews.

2007 Buenchen Riesling Kabinett, Mosel, Germany
Our Price: $13.00 Sale Price: $11.70

In addition to fresh rosé, nothing helps us embrace spring and summer like good German Riesling. Low in alcohol, with lots of aromatic fruit flavors and thirst-quenching acidity, they help beat the heat and are remarkable in their versatility with all sorts of food. Bünchen is a side project of famed Mosel producer Selbach-Oster from the fantastic 2007 vintage. Its flavors of honey, lemon zest, tangerine, grapefruit, custard apples, and slate are best enjoyed midday under a hot sun. If only they made it in magnums…
