Can you say California Cahors, or Cal-Andean? We can, and so can Clayhouse. This is a vivid Malbec with all of that purple jazz, and more. A pinch of Merlot gives the wine some of that dry claylike grip which reels in the runaway fruit train. At 13.5% booze, this is a super compelling, gutsy local red that gives up the goods without getting goofy. A revelation.
