But check this out - “Les Perrieres” is a vaunted Meursault vineyard, the birthplace of flinty, honey and lemon drop Chardonnays of marvelous richness. “Chaumes des Perrieres” is part of the vineyard that was demoted because the farmer added 9 inches of topsoil to get the vineyard started. Pedants and bureaucrats interfered and inadvertently ensured that incredible Meursault would stay on the cheap. Only in a crazy, mixed-up world like this. Load up.
